DHCPv4 and DHCPv6 scopes inherit DHCP and DDNS options from the parent DHCP server. Similarly, DHCPv4 and DHCPv6 reservations inherit DHCP and DDNS options from the DHCP scope. However, you can change these options by editing the options for the specific scope or reservation.

Adding a new DHCP option

To add a new DHCP option:

  1. In the list on the Networks tab of the IPAM page, select the DHCP scope for which you want to add a new option.
  2. Use either the Action menu or the ellipses in the row to select Add an option.
  3. Start entering text into the provided field. You can enter either the name of the option or its number. A list of available options will be displayed.

  4. Select the option you want to add.
  5. The selected option now appears in the list and you can assign values to it.
HEX and ASCII representation

Certain DHCP options, such as DHCP option 43 (Vendor Specific Info), require the value to be in HEX format. In such cases, the Web Application allows you to select whether to display the value in HEX and ASCII format by selecting the appropriate tabs above the input field.

Editing DHCP options

Through DDI orchestrator, you can edit existing DHCP options configured for a DHCP scope as needed.

To edit the configured DHCP options for a DHCP scope:

  1. In the list on the Networks tab of the IPAM page, select the DHCP scope for which you want to edit an option.
  2. Use either the Action menu or the ellipses in the row to select Edit scope options.
  3. In the dialog, edit the DHCP options as needed.
    Note: To view the options that have inherited values from a parent or reservation, you must select the Show inherited options checkbox.

  4. Select Save.

Removing a DHCP option

To remove a DHCP option:

  1. In the list on the Networks tab of the IPAM page, select the DHCP scope for which you want to remove an option.
  2. Use either the Action menu or the ellipses in the row to select Edit scope options.
  3. In the dialog, locate the DHCP option you want to remove and select the trash can icon to remove the option.
  4. Select Save.
