You can temporarily disable an API token to prevent it from accessing objects on the platform. When an API token is disabled, you can still edit it, as well as its assigned roles and groups; however, you cannot edit its validity period and it cannot be rotated.
Disabling an API token
When you disable an API token, it can no longer access the objects to which you've granted it permissions—through roles and groups, for example.
To disable an API token:
- Navigate to and locate the API token you want to disable in the list.
- Select the ellipses in the row and then select Disable.
- In the dialog, select Disable.
The API token will be disabled. This will be reflected in the Status column of the API tokens list.
You can re-enable the API token at any time.
Enabling an API token
You can re-enable a disabled API token, thereby reinstating its access to objects and actions on the platform.
When you re-enable an API token, its initial expiration date will not be reinstated. If you want the token to expire at a specified date/time, you will need to rotate the token or create a new token with the desired expiration date.
To enable an API token:
- Navigate to and locate the API token you want to enable in the list.
- Select the ellipses in the row and then select Enable.
- In the dialog, select Enable.
The API token will be re-enabled. This will be reflected in the Status column of the API tokens list.
