Many networks have different non-routable segments for which the same CIDR is reused, for example, when different offices have identical network layouts. DDI orchestrator enables you to synchronize multiple subnets that share a network CIDR but exist in different network segments. By default, when multiple data sources report a subnet, DDI orchestrator assumes that it is the same subnet and merges the data from all sources into it. However, you can select to manage them separately. This means that multiple IP address ranges are created in DDI orchestrator and the data from each source is stored in its own instance.
When you add or synchronize an AWS or Azure service with overlapping networks, they are created as separate ranges. Unlike networks on a Cisco Meraki server, these networks cannot be reintegrated.
Separating networks
When you create separate instances for networks in DDI orchestrator, each network will have its own unique set of IP addresses and custom properties. As a result, you can manage each network separately.
To separate networks:
- In the Networks data grid on the IPAM page, select the Meraki network whose instances you want to separate.
- Use either the Action or Row ... menu to select Manage separately.
- In the dialog, select which networks you want to create separate instances for
in DDI orchestrator.
- Select Separate.
After separating the networks, they are displayed in the data grid as separate instances, designated in the Authority column as - separated.
Reintegrating networks
DDI orchestrator allows you to reintegrate several networks that you previously separated, so that you can manage them as once instance again. Their IP address information, such as leases, reservations, and static clients, will be reintegrated into the organization. The selected networks are then either removed or integrated into the organization, depending on whether a corresponding range already exists there.
- In the Networks data grid on the IPAM page, select all the separated subnets.
- Use either the Action or Row ... menu to select Reintegrate ranges.
- In the confirmation dialog, select Reintegrate.
After reintegrating them, the networks will then be displayed as one entry in the data grid. The Authority column displays the number of instances.
