When a reverse lookup occurs, a PTR record is created that points to the domain name for the IP address. In DDI orchestrator, you can run a task to update the DNS records in the corresponding reverse zone.

To update reverse records from DNS:

You can update DNS records for a reverse zone from the DNS page. To update the records:

  1. On the DNS page, select Reverse zones in the left sidebar.
  2. In the list, select the reverse zone.
  3. Use either the Action or ellipses in the row to select Update reverse records.
  4. In the confirmation dialog, select Yes.

Updating reverse records from IPAM

You can update DNS reverse records from the IP address range or DHCP scope. To update the records:

  1. In the list on the Networks tab of the IPAM page, select the range or DHCP scope
  2. Use either the Action or ellipses in the row to select Update reverse records.
  3. In the dialog, select the DNS view in which the reverse records for this network should be.
    Note: If a reverse zone has not been created for this network, DDI orchestrator displays a prompt to create a reverse zone.
  4. Select Create.
