You can update a role's permissions when you need to change them to allow or deny actions or access. By default, all application permissions are set to Not set.

Permissions can be set to:

  • Allow: Explicitly allow permission to view information or complete an action.
  • Deny: Explicitly deny permission to view information or complete an action.
  • Unset: No access permission has been specified. If a user/group is assigned to another role, that role's permission takes precedence.
Note: Deny permissions take priority over Allow permissions.

To update a role's permissions:

  1. On the Roles page, locate and select the role whose permissions you want to update.
  2. On the role's details page, select the Permissions tab.
  3. Select Update.
  4. In the dialog, update the permissions as needed.
    1. To update platform permissions, expand the Platform section by selecting the downward arrow.

To update application permissions, such as permissions in DDI orchestrator, expand the application's section by selecting the downward arrow.

    2. Permissions are organized by scope, such as Devices. Use the downward arrows to expand scopes.
    3. Select the permission(s) you want to update by using the Unset all, Deny all, or Allow all options to apply the rule. You can also apply one of these rules to entire scope of permissions, for example, Deny all for all Devices permissions.

The Update role permissions dialog with the Services permissions of the DDI orchestrator section expanded.
  5. Select Update.

The role's permissions are updated immediately and the changes are displayed on the Permissions tab of the role's details page. A success message is displayed in the top right corner of the screen to confirm that the permissions have been updated.
