Starting in v25.1.0, you can install LiveAssurance on a virtual machine or physical server by using an ISO image. This is an alternate method for installing LiveAssurance.
Tip:

Prerequisites

  • LiveAssurance ISO—Contact BlueCat Customer Care for details.
  • Physical server (Only UEFI boot mode is currently supported) or virtual machine (VMware)
  • Media for ISO mounting—USB or DVD
  • Minimum system requirements—200GB storage space, 8 GB RAM, and 8 CPU cores (or 8 vCPU, if using VMWare)

Procedure

  1. Do one of the following:
    • If using a physical server, mount the LiveAssurance ISO to the physical server by using either a USB or DVD. Then, boot from the selected media.

    • If using VMware, change the boot mode from BIOS to EFI in the Customize hardware > VM Options > Boot Options section when creating the virtual machine.

Then, the virtual machine boots the same way as a physical server.

  2. The installation process starts automatically in 10 seconds. To begin the installation process immediately, press Enter.

Warning: Once the installation process starts, all existing data on the hard drive will be lost.
  3. Wait for the installation process to be completed.

After the installation is complete, the system will reboot automatically.

After reboot, the bootloader menu displays the installed application—BCIA.

  4. The system will proceed with the boot automatically in 10 seconds. Alternatively, to proceed with the boot immediately, press Enter.

Then, the system displays a login prompt.

  5. Log in with the Username: indeni and Password: indeni4it:.

Once you have logged in, a prompt appears, asking you to confirm whether you want to proceed with the Configuration Wizard.

  6. Type y to proceed. This wizard will enable you to configure various network and system settings.

For details on configuring these settings and for the rest of the procedure, see 1.2 Installation as a Virtual Machine.
