After you have added the Credential Set, you are ready to add the device(s).

To add a device:
  1. Navigate back to the Devices tab and click New Device +.

    The Add Device window opens.

  2. Add the Device Name, IP address, and Labels (if applicable).
    Note:
    • You can only enter letters, digits, and certain special characters -, _, *, +, :, @, &, =, !, ~, '). Additionally, the Name field is space sensitive.
    • From the Add Device window, you can add multiple devices by clicking New + or by importing a list by clicking Import. You can also add previously Known Devices by clicking Add Known Devices, as shown in the following image.

  3. Click Interrogate.
Note: If you encounter an error in the Device Name field but have entered only the allowed characters, it is likely that an extra space was added. You can highlight the name to verify, as shown in the following image.

After you click Interrogate, it should reach out and connect to the device via the credential set you created for the device(s) subnet. If it fails, it is very important to read the message that was delivered back. It contains the details that you need to remediate the issue. The following image shows an example.

Following the steps suggested, SSH connection to the device as listed did not work. After taking another look at the credential sets, and other testing, it is realized that the IP address of the device is incorrect. After correcting the IP and clicking interrogate again we see a successful add, indicated by the Green Signal icon.

  4. Once interrogation is done, click Save to save the device and add it to dashboard.

After the device is saved, you might need to wait a few moments for LiveAssurance to run through all the Rules that can be applied to the added device. Once it does, you will be presented with issues and device details.
