From 2019, Insight is mandatory in every LiveAssurance installation. Insight is a cloud-based service that verifies LiveAssurance best practices are in place and notifies you of urgent vulnerabilities. Insight sends non-confidential data from your LiveAssurance instance to our cloud database.

First time Installation

If you are installing LiveAssurance for the first time, your LiveAssurance instance will automatically test the connectivity to Insight. If the connectivity to Insight is not working, the system will prompt the administrator to check the internet connection and configure the proxy server in your environment.

First time Upgrade

After upgrade to the Insight mandatory release, the administrator will be reminded of the change upon login for the first time. The system will automatically test the connectivity to Insight in the cloud. If the connection was working, no further action would be needed. If the connection was not working, you would be prompted to check the internet connectivity and configure the proxy server setting.

Note: Insight can be configured via the UI.

Configuring connectivity to Insight

If LiveAssurance is having trouble connecting to the internet, it is possible that it has been set to use a proxy server.
Note: Insight requires access to “service.indeni-ops.com” over ports 80 (HTTP) and 443 (HTTPS).

To configure a proxy, do the following:

  1. Select the Settings tab in the sidebar, then select Admin.

  2. Under Configuration, select Proxy Settings.

  3. Enter the URL or IP address of the proxy server as follows:

    https://<proxy_server>:<port>

If the proxy server requires authentication, enter as follows:

    https://<username>:<password>@<proxy_server>:<port>

    For example:

    https://admin:mysecret@10.10.10.11:8080

  4. Select Set Proxy to save the configuration.

Once you have configured a proxy, LiveAssurance will automatically test the connection to Insight to ensure that it works as expected.

Note: LiveAssurance automatically checks the connectivity to Insight. LiveAssurance will remind the administrator once a week if the connection to the cloud is not working. It is not possible to disable Insight.
