Configuration templates let you manage BAM service configurations for multiple managed servers. A service configuration template is useful for implementing and validating compliance for a subset of BDDS configuration settings.
A configuration template consists of a JSON file that specifies configuration and preference settings for a DNS/DHCP server. You can add Configuration Templates to a Server Batch, then assign a specific template from that list to each server in that batch. When the batch is next updated, settings in the Configuration Template are applied to servers in that Server Batch.

For more details on how BAM uses service configurations, see Configuration Templates for service configurations in the Address Manager Legacy v1 API Guide.
You set up templates in the Configuration Templates page. (Click the
Administration tab, then click Configuration
Templates.) Sensitive information in a template is obfuscated with asterisks
(*).
You assign, manage, and apply templates from the BSUS Dashboard, within the Configuration Status column. This column displays details about the Configuration Template associated with a server. Within this column, you can perform the following tasks:
To assign a different template to a server: Click the template name (if the server already has a Configuration Template assigned to it), or click No Configuration Template (if no template is assigned). For more details, see Assigning a Configuration Template to a Server or Server Batch.
To compare a Configuration Template with the server's current settings: Click the status indicator (Compliant, Noncompliant, or Waiting).
To sync a "Noncompliant" server's settings with those in the assigned Configuration Template: Click the Sync button (
). For more details, see Syncing Configuration Templates with servers.
To download the server's current settings as a JSON file: Click the download button (
).
Note: These are settings on the server, not settings in the Configuration Template. You view and modify templates from the Configuration Templates page.
