When you create a planned update as a Scheduled Update, BlueCat Server Update Services (BSUS) will automatically apply the patch to all servers in the specified Server Batch at the time and date you indicate. As with all planned updates, after you set up a Scheduled Update, BSUS immediately uploads the update files to all servers in the Server Batch, so that they can all be applied at the scheduled time as efficiently as possible.

To schedule a DNS/DHCP Server update to get applied at a later time:

  1. Go to the Available Updates page. (From BlueCat Server Update Services, click Server Updates, then click the Available Updates tab.)

  2. Select the checkbox for one or more update (patch) files.

  3. Click the Settings button ( gear icon) and select Schedule. The Schedule screen appears.

  4. In the first screen, do the following:

    • Under Select Batch, select the Server Batches to which you want to apply the patch.

When first setting up a Scheduled update, you can select multiple batches.

    • To also apply each Server Batch's customization package (if any) to its servers, click to select the Apply checkbox.

Customization packages are customized sets of bash scripts and support files that back up and restore server settings that might be lost during an upgrade. For more details, see Working with upgrade customization packages.

    When you're done, click Next.

  5. In the next screen, do the following:

    • Under Selected Patches, drag the names of updates to change the order in which updates are applied.

    • Under Date Time, select the date and time when you want the update to be applied.

Note: For a new scheduled update, the scheduled date and time must be at least 5 minutes in the future.

When you're done, click Schedule. (To instead go back to the previous screen and select a different set of batches, click Previous.)

BlueCat Server Update Services creates the scheduled update. You can view a list of scheduled updates in the Planned Updates tab.
