BlueCat Server Update Services (BSUS) manages user access through Address Manager user groups. To do so, BSUS requires that you set up a user-defined field named BsusPermission in Address Manager, where it will store BSUS-specific access right details.

After setting up this permission, you can give BSUS access rights to any group in Address Manager. For more details, see Setting up access rights for BSUS user groups.

To set up the BsusPermission UDF in Address Manager:

BSUS uses the BsusPermission user-defined field (UDF) to store BSUS permissions for Address Manager user groups. If this UDF doesn't exist, BSUS won't be able to provide access to BSUS.

  1. In Address Manager, open the User Group page. (Click the Administration tab, then click Object Types under Data Management. Click to expand the Admin section, then click User Group.)

  2. In the User Group page, in the Fields section, click the New button (the plus symbol).

  3. In the Add User-Defined Field, enter the following:

    • In Name, enter BsusPermission.

UDF names are case-sensitive, so make sure you enter the name as written.

    • In Display name, use any user-friendly name (such as BSUS Permission).

    • In Type, select Text.

Leave the rest of the settings at their default values. When you're done, click Add.
