The BlueCat Server Update Services (BSUS) v24.1 release introduces the following major feature enhancements:

RabbitMQ password credentials

You can now modify the credentials (user name and password) that BSUS uses to sign in to the RabbitMQ database from the BSUS UI. BSUS uses this database to store details about updates and update jobs.

Note: While installing or upgrading the BSUS application, you must still leave the RabbitMQ user and password at its default values. You can change the RabbitMQ user and password when installation of BSUS completely finishes.

For more details, see Modifying the RabbitMQ password in the BlueCat Server Update Services Administration Guide.

Revised log messages

BSUS log messages now distinguish between patch updates and upgrades.

Backup and restore tool

BSUS now includes a tool for backing up and restoring the contents of your BSUS container (including the set of updates and scheduled update jobs), restoring the backup later. This tool is provided as a Python script, making it easy to incorporate into an automated process.

For more details, see Backing up and restoring BSUS data in the BlueCat Server Update Services Administration Guide.

UI enhancements

The UI for BSUS has been revised to align with that of Address Manager and other BlueCat products:

  • The Scheduled Updates tab is now called the Planned Updates tab. Deployment Progress for each scheduled update is now displayed in a progress bar.

  • The Preferences tab has changed to the Administration tab. The configuration experience for settings and items have also improved.

  • When viewing Configuration Templates, sensitive information is obfuscated with asterisks (*).
