Cloud Discovery & Visbility (CDV) supports discovery of Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) instances configured in Amazon Web Services (AWS). EC2 instances are analogous to virtual machines, supplied by AWS. During discovery, CDV imports VPC blocks, VPC networks, and device resources (such as EC2 instances, load balancers, private endpoints, and EKS (Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service) instances).

EC2 networks and blocks

The following example shows EC2 instances as configured in Amazon Web Services (AWS). EC2 instances are analogous to virtual machines, supplied by AWS.

Within Address Manager, Cloud Discovery & Visibility imports EC2 instances as devices. The following example illustrates two EC2 instances that CDV added to Address Manager as two separate devices.

To view subnets associated with the EC2 instance (and additional data from the EC2 instance), click on the device in Address Manager UI. The following illusrates the device details of the EC2 instance in the Address Manager user interface.

Within the IP Space, the addresses associated to the EC2 instances are also assigned to the EC2 device in Address Manager. The following image displays the IP address assigned to the EC2 instance in the Address Manager user interface.
