Cloud Discovery & Visibility (CDV) can import data about Private and Public DNS zones within Microsoft Azure. For example, the following illustrates a private DNS zone in Azure with a set of resource records configured for that zone.

When CDV imports private and public DNS zone data into Address Manager, they appear under the View for the appropriate configuration. CDV also imports DNS resource records created for that zone.

Address Manager supports the following DNS resource record types:
  • SOA
  • A
  • AAAA
  • CNAME
  • MX
  • PTR
  • SRV
  • TXT

The type of record that CDV creates for A and AAAA records depends on whether its IP address exists within an imported visual network from Azure.

  • If the IP address exists within an imported virtual network from Azure, CDV creates a Host record in Address Manager.
  • If the IP does not exist within an imported virtual network, CDV creates a Generic record in Address Manager.

The following example illustrates Azure resource record information that was imported into Address Manager from a private or public DNS zone.
