New in Cloud Discovery & Visibility v25.3, users can configure how parent zones are affected when deleting tagged child zones on the Tagged resources tab.
If the Delete empty parent zones setting is disabled (default):
-
Scheduled Discovery: When a zone is deleted from the cloud, CD&V tags the zone for deletion. It will appear under the Tagged resources tab. Deleting it from this tab removes only that specific zone in Address Manager, without affecting any associated parent zones.
-
Visibility: When a zone is deleted from the cloud, CD&V deletes its associated resource records and removes the deleted zone itself.
If the Delete empty parent zones setting is enabled:
- For both Scheduled Discovery and Visibility: When a zone is
deleted from the cloud, CD&V deletes its associated resource records first,
then tags the zone for deletion. It will appear under the Tagged
resources tab. Deleting it from this tab will also remove its associated
parent zones, provided the parent zone(s) meet all of the following criteria:
- The parent zone does not contain any other child zones.
- The parent zone does not contain any resource records.
- The parent zone is not deployable.
To configure the parent zone deletion setting:
Click the Settings tab to open the general Settings page.
In the Delete empty parent zones section, toggle the switch to enable or disable parent zone deletion.
