Cloud Discovery & Visibility (CDV) is built on the Gateway platform. To get started with CDV:
-
Log in to BlueCat Gateway.
-
Click the Cloud Discovery & Visibility tile on the Workflows page.
If the home page is not set to the Workflows page, in the navigator on the left, click Custom Workflows, expand CloudDiscovery and click Cloud Discovery & Visibility.
The main Cloud Discovery & Visibility page opens.
To return to BlueCat Gateway, click at
the top of the CDV UI and select Go to Gateway.
To open the instance of Address Manager that CDV is associated with, click at
the top of the CDV UI and select Go to Address Manager.
Within Cloud Discovery & Visibility, discovery and visibility panels and configuration details are organized into the following tabs:
| Tab | Description |
|---|---|
| Discovery | Create new Discoveries, which can be of two types:
scheduled discoveries, or discoveries with real
time updates (also known as Visibility). View the status
and history of current scheduled discoveries and jobs within
them. The Discovery page displays Schedule managers and their discovery jobs from all supported platforms (Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platforms, and Microsoft Azure). Configuration details for discoveries will vary between platforms. When CDV runs a discovery, it performs a one-time search through the specified infrastructure and imports Address Manager with the network resources it finds. CDV can also automatically re-run discovery at specified intervals to update Address Manager with changes in the network infrastructure. |
| Visibility | View the status and history of current Visibility jobs (discoveries with real-time updates). The Visibility page displays Visibility managers and their visibility jobs from all supported platforms (Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platforms, and Microsoft Azure). When configured, Visibility starts after a discovery completes, providing real-time updates to Address Manager with changes in network infrastructure. |
| Cloud networks | The Cloud networks table summarizes all available address spaces across all platforms. For more details, see Cloud Networks summary table. |
| Tagged resources |
View a list of Address Manager views, zones and configurations that CDV has tagged for possible deletion. When re-running discovery on the same cloud network with the same discovery settings, Cloud Discovery & Visibility (CDV) tags resources (Views, Zones and Configurations) created by CDV that currently exist in Address Manager but that no longer exist in the cloud environment since the previous discovery task. By default, CDV does not delete those views, zones and configurations from Address Manager, so the Tagged resources tab displays them and lets you decide whether or not to keep them. For more details on viewing and manually deleting these tagged resources, see Deleting resources flagged as missing during rediscovery. |
