In order to perform visibility jobs, CDV stores files, data, and other resources on the target platform infrastructure. This data is used to track network resources like virtual networks, virtual machines, and load balancers (among others) so that they can be noted and passed on to Address Manager by visibility jobs. If you don't need to run discovery or visibility on a system anymore (or you simply want to clear out data for maintenance), you can purge it to remove these files.
CDV tracking resource files typically begin with the prefix BC-CDV-.
Purging removes only files that begin with BC-CDV-, plus files and data
associated with discovery and visibility jobs that currently exist in CDV. When purging
AWS systems, you can limit the purge operation to specific regions.
For each system, CDV sets up the following types of resources that will be removed during a purge:
- Amazon Web Services: Purging deletes all SNS, SQS, and CloudWatch resources that CDV uses to set up visibility on an infrastructure. When purging AWS systems, you can limit the purge operation to specific regions.
-
Google Cloud Platforms: Purging deletes all Logging Sink, Pub/Sub Subscriptions, and Pub/Sub Topics that CDV uses to set up visibility on an infrastructure. When purging GCP systems, the purging operation is applied to resources within a project.
-
Microsoft Azure: Purging deletes all Service Bus and Event Grid Subscriptions that CDV uses to set up visibility on an Azure system. When purging Azure systems, the purging operation is applied globally, to all areas of the Azure infrastructure that the subscription can access.
To purge a visibility system from a network infrastructure:
-
In CDV, go to the Visibility page (click the Visibility tab).
-
Click Actions, then select Purge Visibility System.
- Select the type of infrastructure platform that you want to purge (Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure).
-
In the Purge visibility system window, enter the credentials and other details that CDV needs to purge the system.
For more details on these settings, see:
-
When you're done, click Purge.
To cancel the operation, click Cancel.
