Cloud Discovery & Visibility (CDV) must be authorized with the Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure in order to perform discovery. If CDV is deployed on an EC2 instance, it can use the credentials for the CDV instance.
To automatically authenticate CDV using the credentials on the EC2 instance:
-
Make sure the EC2 instance credentials have the permissions needed by CDV.
-
In CDV, click AWS in the banner at the top and then click Setup.
-
Click to expand AWS Credentials (if necessary), then click the Basic tab.
-
Click to select the Use EC2 instance credentials checkbox.
When selected, the credentials of the user that deployed the CDV instance in AWS are used for authentication. CDV also hides other credential fields from view.
Attention:-
The Use EC2 instance credentials checkbox appears only when CDV is deployed on EC2 instances in AWS environments.
When setting up CDV on an EC2 instance, while configuring your instance metadata options, make sure that IMDSv2 is set to Optional (not Required).
For more information about deploying CDV on an AWS EC2 instance, see Installing CDV on AWS EC2 instances.
-
If you have CDV deployed on an EC2 instance in AWS and Use EC2 instance credentials does not appear, make sure that the EC2 instance exists and retrieve the instance metadata. For more information, see Retrieving AWS EC2 instance metadata.
