Upgrade the version of Cloud Discovery & Visibility (CDV) that you are currently running to the latest version.
There are two methods for upgrading CDV while maintaining your CDV database (with its jobs and other data):
-
Export and import the CDV database: That is, you will export the CDV database, perform the upgrade, then import the CDV database.
-
Update using volume mounts: Deploy the update using Docker volume mounts.
However, there are some restrictions to how you can update depending on your current (old) version of CDV:
If you are performing a major software update to CDV v24.1.1, you can perform a direct update from software version 23.2 or greater only. If you are running CDV v23.1.1 or earlier, you must first update to CDV v23.2 before performing the update to CDV v24.1.1.
If you are upgrading from a version prior to v24.1, you cannot migrate the CDV database using the volume mount method. You must instead export the existing CDV database, upgrade CDV, and then import it again, For more details, see Upgrading Cloud Discovery & Visibility using the database export and import.
Upon upgrading to CDV v24.1.1, visibility jobs are preserved but stopped. You must manually restart the visibility jobs from the Management tab in the Cloud Discovery & Visibility UI.
After you run discovery and visibility jobs on the upgraded version of Cloud Discovery & Visibility, the UDFs from the older version of Cloud Discovery & Visibility are replaced with the updated UDFs from the current version. There is no backwards compatibility and you cannot run an older version of Cloud Discovery & Visibility.
If you are upgrading Cloud Discovery & Visibility that was deployed on a BDDS, see Upgrading a container for details on upgrading the container.
