Note: This section describes how to apply an upgrade to BDDS that has Cloud Discovery & Visibility (CDV) installed on it. If you want to instead upgrade an instance of CDV that is hosted on a BDDS, see Upgrading Cloud Discovery & Visibility using the database export and import.

You can use Cloud Discovery & Visibility on a BlueCat DNS/DHCP Server (BDDS). However, if you apply an upgrade the BDDS server, the CDV instance and all of its data will be lost. To preserve your CDV data, you must first export your CDV database, restoring it when the BDDS upgrade completes.

To upgrade a BDDS that is hosting CDV:

  1. Before applying the BDDS upgrade, export the CDV database. For more details, see Exporting the current Cloud Discovery & Visibility database.

  2. Apply the BDDS upgrade. For more details, see the Address Manager Administration Guide and any Release Notes associated with the upgrade.

  3. After the BDDS upgrade successfully completes, import the exported database content. For more details, see Importing the old database into the upgraded Cloud Discovery & Visibility container.

Attention: Any Visibility jobs that you're running will be preserved but stopped. You must manually restart the visibility jobs from the Management tab in the Cloud Discovery & Visibility UI.
