Define the conditions for device registration. For example: MAC Pools (Registered, Unregistered, Blocklist), device limits per user, validity periods, cleanup times and blocklist options.
Pools & Policy
Select Registered and Unregistered MAC pools.
To assign pools for Registered and Unregistered devices, open the drop-down lists and select from the available MAC pools.
You do not have to assign a pool for Unregistered devices. If selected, the system will automatically move expired and removed devices to the Unregistered MAC pool. If left blank, expired and removed devices are immediately excluded from all pools.
Next, define the following fields:
- Unregistered pool cleanup activates the automatic cleanup
of the Unregistered MAC pool. It is disabled by default. Note: For more information on Automated pool cleanup, see here.
- Define the Unregistered pool retention period (days) by entering a number of days during which a device will be kept in the Unregistered MAC pool.
- Validity period (days) defines the time during which a device registration is valid.
- Select a time helps you define the execution time for the expiration cleanup process. The time is based on the server time of DRP and it is set to midnight by default.
- Maximum devices per user defines the limit for the number of devices each user is allowed to register. If required, admins are allowed to manually register more than the maximum number of devices per user.
- Enable device description field enables or disables the Device description field during device registration.
- Description max length helps you define the maximum input length for descriptions by setting a limit to the number of characters.
DHCP Reservation
- Use the DNS view to select where DHCP reserved
registrations should be created.Note: The drop-down list is dynamically populated with DNS Views available in BAM.
- The Reserved registration location is used to select
a BAM Tag Group that represents available locations.Note: The drop-down list is dynamically populated with Tag Groups available in BAM.
- To display multiple domain names to users, add reserved DHCP domain names to the DNS domain names list.
- Create reverse record toggle is disabled by default. If enabled, reverse records will be generated when the hostname is added.
Guest
Enable guest enables Guest registration on the Network registration login page.
Guest MAC Pool allows selecting a MAC pool to be used for guest devices.
Guest validity period (days) defines the time during which a Guest registration is valid.
Guest-only registration enables automatic Guest registration of all devices, as soon as the AUP is accepted. This bypasses the regular log in process and existing users will not be able to log in using their credentials.
Enable guest passphrase activates an additional screen, upon confirming Guest login, where users will be asked to enter the password before they can proceed to device registration. If enabled, define the passphrase by entering it in the Password field.
Blocklist
Disabled by default, toggle the button to enable blocklisting devices in the DRP.
Blocklist MAC Pool fields defines the MAC pool used for blocklisted devices.
Add one or multiple phrases to a list as Blocklist reasons to inform the users of the activity.
