The easiest way to import and export workflows is through BlueCat Gateway UI.

To import a workflow file using the Gateway UI:

  1. Open the Workflow management window. (Click Settings at the bottom of the navigator on the left, then click Workflow Management.)

  2. Click Import workflow, then select Import from file.

  3. In the Import workflows from file window, select the workflow package that you want to import:

    1. In Import source, select Upload.

    2. In Upload file, either drag the workflow TAR package file onto the box area, or click in the box area to browse to the file.

You can import any exported workflow file. Importable files are TAR package files (.tar or .tar.gz).

When you're done, click Import, then confirm the operation

Attention: New workflows will overwrite existing workflows if they have the same name and category. Existing workflows are backed up in the container in the folder bluecat_portal/backup_storage. However, this backup contains only the most recent version, and will itself overwrite any previous backups. If you want to retain a history of workflow changes, archive the backup to an external location immediately.
  4. (Optional, but recommended) After importing the workflow, refresh your browser, then assign appropriate permissions to user groups for the new workflow. For more details, see Assigning page and REST endpoint permissions.

If you do not assign user groups to the workflow, only admin users will be able to use or see it.

To export a workflow file using the BlueCat Gateway user interface:

  1. Open the Workflow management window. (Click Settings at the bottom of the navigator on the left, then click Workflow Management.)

  2. In the row of the workflow that you want to export, click its action button at the end of the table () and select Export.

Tip: To filter the list by workflow name or path, enter a search term in the Search box above the list.
  3. Enter (or browse to) the path and name on your host machine where you want the exported workflow file to be stored.
