The View Logs page in Gateway displays the most recent contents of Gateway log files.

  • To open the View Logs window, in Gateway, click System in the page header, then click View logs.

Note: This option appears only to users who are a member of a group with the permission view_logs.

You can do the following with the View Logs window.

To switch between different log files

Click the Access Logs or Messages Logs tabs (or the tab for a Custom logs file) to view messages of the indicated type. Only the most recent 1,000 lines in that file are displayed.

Messages from Custom logs are included as long as they are configured in the Gateway Configuration file (config.json) before Gateway starts. For more details, see Setting up custom logs for Gateway.

If a log is defined in config.json, but the log file is missing or inaccessible, the list will be empty and Gateway displays the error "Log file not found" below the list. (If the list is empty but no such error is displayed, and you are viewing the standard Access and Messages tabs, then there are no messages that fit the current filter criteria.)

To search or filter log messages by specific text Enter your search term in the Search box. Gateway filters the list as you type.
To filter the list by log level

Click the desired log level at the top of the list. Log messages that are less severe than the selected log level will be hidden from the list. For example, if you select Error, only messages at the level of Error and Critical are displayed.

Selectable log levels (in order of severity) are Debug, Info, Warning, Error, and Critical.

Tip: Custom logs that use the same format and syntax as message logs are also filtered by Log Level selections.
To refresh the list Click the Refresh button.

To quickly download the displayed log messages to a file

To quickly download log messages to a file, click the Download button. Only logs currently displayed and filtered on screen in the current tab are downloaded.

Tip: To download all log files, click System in the page header, then click Download logs.
