Address Manager server Failover Monitoring support
Address Manager disaster recovery includes a system for database replication and manual system failover. The database replication system consists of a Primary server, which replicates its data to the Standby server or servers. In a replication system, Gateway will normally authenticate with the server designated as the Primary Address Manager server. However, upon an Address Manager failover event, where the Primary server is unavailable, one of the standby servers is designated as a new Primary server.
While Gateway's Address Manager Failover Monitoring feature is configured and active, Gateway will monitor the state of the primary and standby servers. Should a failover event occur, Gateway will switch its Address Manager server connection to the new primary server, seamlessly logging back in if possible. Currently logged-in users need only refresh the browser page or re-login to continue their work.
Standalone Gateway authentication
You can now set up Gateway to authenticate users without connecting to Micetro or Address Manager server. This lets you use the Gateway platform to automate tasks even if your infrastructure does not use Micetro or Address Manager.
Changed user group setting
With the introduction of the Standalone authentication feature, the ID for
the user group setting show_bam has changed to
show_authentication. This setting corresponds to the
Show authentication setting (formerly
Show BAM) in the Group Settings section of the
Configuration page. The ID can be used in custom workflows that manipulate
user settings.
This setting specifies whether the BlueCat Address Manager (BAM) or Micetro IP address/alias is available to the user group. When using Standalone authentication, no address or alias will ever be shown.
