About LiveWire

Congratulations on your purchase of LiveWire™! LiveWire appliances uniquely combine flow-based reporting using deep packet inspection (DPI) with high-speed, packet capture and storage. LiveWire is designed to work with LiveAction’s LiveNX and various other platforms. Because LiveWire starts with packet data, it is able to provide a unique, and extended, set of flow-based monitoring data called LiveFlow. LiveFlow is extended IPFIX data and is exported to LiveNX and other platforms. See the LiveWire User Guide for the additional tasks you must perform in order to export LiveFlow data from LiveWire. Please also refer to the LiveNX and the other platform documentation for more information on using the LiveFlow data exported to LiveNX and other platforms.

Note: In this guide, references to ‘LiveWire’ refer to the complete collection of LiveWire appliances. When necessary, references to a specific LiveWire appliance are specified to note any differences between appliances.

For technical specifications, illustrations of the front and back panels, installation, cabling instructions for external JBODs, activation, and starting/shutting down LiveWire, refer to the more comprehensive Quick Start Guides available for each of the different LiveWire appliances:

For information on configuring LiveWire, refer to the "Configuring LiveWire" section in the LiveWire User Guide.

Customer order workflow

  2. Once verified, the order is then submitted to the BlueCat fulfillment centers.

  6. Once the order is shipped, BlueCat receives a tracking number, birth certificates, and the DELL warranty expiration.
  7. BlueCat then sends an email to the customer with tracking information, a welcome email from MyPeek that includes the product keys, log in information to MyPeek, and also log in information to Grid, BlueCat’s configuration utility for LiveWire appliances.
  8. The customer receives the order and installs LiveWire. See the Quick Start Guide for your LiveWire appliance.
  9. Once installed, the customer activates LiveWire. See the Quick Start Guide for your LiveWire appliance.
  10. Once activated, the customer can begin using LiveWire. See the LiveWire User Guide.
