Once you have enabled the RCE license, configure the LiveWire Authentication Group Secret on the LiveWire control point.
You can use the LiveWire Authentication Group Secret to connect multiple LiveWire devices together. A LiveWire can communicate with any other LiveWire using the same Authentication Group Secret.
To deploy one or more RCEs, you will need a LiveWire control point already installed and available. On the LiveWire control point, you must first set up the Authentication Group Secret, which will be given to the RCEs to use for establishing a connection to this control point.
To generate a new Authentication Group Secret:
- Log in to the LiveWire control point UI.
- From the Home page, click Configure Engine.
- Navigate to the Security section.
- Click Generate next to the Authentication Group
Secret field to generate a new random 32 character
Authentication Group Secret, or enter a 32 to 64 character group secret manually
(do not click Generate if you enter a group secret manually). Attention: Generating a new Authentication Group Secret by clicking Generate or creating your own logs you out of the LiveWire UI upon clicking Apply. This is expected behavior.
Additionally, the LiveWire service restarts which results in captures stopping and restarting. Forensic searches will also be stopped and removed.
- Once you have logged out, log back in to the LiveWire control point.
- From the Home page, click Configure Engine.
- Navigate to the Security section.
- Select the eye icon within the Authentication Group Secret field to view the authentication group secret. Copy this secret key, as it will be used by RCEs to establish a connection to the LiveWire control point.
