Micetro enables you to monitor the presence of hosts on your network by querying routers for host information. To do this, Micetro uses SNMP profiles to determine whether devices that have been discovered on networks are active. The SNMP protocol provides a common mechanism for devices on networks to relay management information.

Discovery scans are automatically conducted in the background, but you can also run them manually using the Scan profiles function.

Note: SNMP discovery only updates the <Default> organization. Other organizations will not be updated. For more information about organizations, refer to Managing organizations.

Host discovery can also be configured using ping. For more information, refer to Host discovery using ping.

The SNMP profiles tab on the Admin page displays all the SNMP profiles you have added to Micetro. When you select an SNMP profile in the data grid, its properties are displayed in the Inspector.

In Micetro, you can add new SNMP profiles and edit existing profiles to manage host discovery on your network.
