This release includes the following new features:

Updated user interface

This UI for Network Discovery has been extensively revised to align with BlueCat Address Manager and the Cloud Discovery & Visibility adaptive app. Features are organized into separate tabs, which you can switch between at any time.

  • The Setup tab has fields and settings where you can complete installation and setup.

  • You can create, update, and delete devices in the Devices tab. Address Manager represents routers and switches as devices.

  • You can manage policies in the Discovery IPv4 and Discovery IPv6 tabs. These tabs display a list of all currently-configured policies, with extensive search and filter features.

  • You can run, schedule, or toggle activation of existing policies in the Management IPv4 and Management IPv6 tabs. You can also display the historical status of active policies, with reports on successfuly-created IP networks, linked IP addresses, and IP network discovery status.

General Network Discovery log management

This release includes new log management features, accessed from the alert (bell) icon in the top right corner. From there, you can change the log level detail or download the log as a separate file.

Device and policy log management

You can now download logs and configure log levels for individual devices and policies on the Devices or Discovery tabs. Within the appropriate tab, click the eye button to view its log and (optionally) change its log level.

Improved discovery of network gaps

Network Discovery now assigns the following status to each discovered network to assist in discovering gaps in your networks.

  • Manually-added network (not found during discovery): Unassigned
  • Discovered network matched: Discovered
  • Network added through discovery (address space not available in Address Manager): Discovered
  • Discovered network conflicting: Mismatch
  • Network not found during discovery, across all previously-discovered devices: Reclaim

If a network does not exist during the discovey process, Network Discovery will create a block to include this network and assign an appropriate state to it.

Network Discovery will update a networks' status during subsequent discovery runs. For example, if a network was not found on all previously-discoverd devices (that is, its current state is Reclaim), and it's found on a second discovery attempt, its status will change to Discovered.

New REST API endpoints

The following new API endpoints further extend Network Discovery functionality and customizability. You can find more details about these API endpoints in the in-product Swagger documentation.

For more details on accessing the REST API and the Swagger documentation, see Network Discovery REST API in the Network Discovery Administration Guide.

  • upload_discovery_file: Upload discovery results directly to BlueCat Address Manager (BAM) and automatically start the Address Manager reconciliation process.
