This section explains how to install a virtual hard disk (VHD) in a Hyper-V environment.

Copy the VHD file onto a Hyper-V server. By default, Hyper-V puts the VHD file into the following directory:
 C:\Users\Public\Documents\Hyper-V\Virtual Hard disks
Note: You need to be running a client Hyper-V before you start this installation.
  1. Start the Hyper-V Manager Console, and then connect to the Hyper-V server.
  2. In the Actions pane click New, and then select Virtual Machine.
  3. Click Next.
  4. In the Name field, type a name for your virtual machine. In the Location field, specify the location where the virtual machine will be stored and then click Next.
  5. In the Memory field, set the amount of RAM that you want to allocate to the VM. Click Next.
Memory settings are dictated by your respective Address Manager and DNS/DHCP Server license(s).
  6. From the Connection drop-down menu, select the network that you want to use for your virtual machine and then click Next.
    Note:
    • You should have at least one network to map to the management interface (eth0).
    • If you want to use a multi-interface DNS/DHCP Server you must configure additional network adapters from your hypervisor network settings after deployment is complete.
  7. Select Use an existing virtual hard disk and specify the location of the VHD that you have downloaded. Click Next.
  8. In the Description field, verify the information that you have specified. Click Finish to create the virtual machine and close the wizard.
This completes the steps to set up your virtual machine in your Hyper-V environment.
