These steps explain how to install Address Manager and DNS/DHCP Server virtual machines in a VMware environment.
Prior to installing an Address Manager or DNS/DHCP Server
VM, make sure that you have created a resource pool in your vSphere Client with the
required resources allocated.
Address Manager and DNS/DHCP Server virtual machines are delivered in OVA (Open Virtual Appliance) and ISO formats. If you still require the OVF image, extract the OVF file from the compressed OVA package using an extraction utility.
Note: Address Manager and DNS/DHCP Server ISO installations are not supported on virtual
machines.
Your BlueCat virtual machine is now installed. To install additional virtual
machines, repeat steps 5 through 9.
After you have completed these steps, BlueCat recommends enabling the VM image to auto-start when the system reboots.
After you have completed these steps, perform any of the following:
- Optional: Provision your ESX VM using cloud-init. For details, refer to Configuring the network configuration using cloud-init.Note: ESX VM must be powered off if provisioning with cloud-init.
- Recommended: Enable the VM image to auto-start when the system reboots. For details, refer to Enabling auto-start in VMware.
- Power on your VM.
