The following tables show the system requirements for BlueCat virtual machines. For optimum performance, BlueCat recommends reserving resources in your hypervisor for each specific DNS/DHCP Server and Address Manager VM, as shown in the sample screen images following the tables.
CAUTION:
Exceeding the vCPU and vRAM settings listed below is a breach of BlueCat
Networks licensing terms and may result in license penalty fees being owed.
Note:
- For DNS/DHCP Server VM deployments, a minimum free disk space of 160GB is required on the hypervisor or disk storage pool.
- Address Manager VM images require 320GB of disk space.
BlueCat DNS/DHCP Server Virtual
Machines
Product | # of vCPUs | CPU resource allocation (MHz) |
CPU clock speed (GHz) |
vRAM (GB) | Network adapters |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
BlueCat DNS Integrity CORE | 20 | 44000 | 2.2 | 64 | 3 |
BlueCat XMB3 | 1 | 1750 | 1.75 | 2 | 3 |
DNS/DHCP Server 20 | 2 | 3000 | 1.5 | 4 | 3 |
DNS/DHCP Server 45 | 2 | 7000 | 3.5 | 8 | 3 |
DNS/DHCP Server 60 | 4 | 12000 | 3.0 | 16 | 3 |
DNS/DHCP Server 100 | 12 | 28000 | 2.4 | 16 | 3 |
BlueCat Address Manager Virtual Machines
Product | # of vCPUs | CPU resource allocation (MHz) |
CPU clock speed (GHz) |
vRAM (GB) | Network adapters |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
BlueCat DNS Integrity CORE | 20 | 44000 | 2.2 | 64 | 1 |
BlueCat Address Manager 1000 | 4 | 8000 | 2.0 | 8 | 1 |
Note: BlueCat Address Manager 1000 only manages a maximum of 4 DNS/DHCP Servers.
|
|||||
BlueCat Address Manager 3000 | 8 | 24000 | 3.0 | 16 | 1 |
BlueCat Address Manager 6000 | 16 | 41600 | 2.6 | 32 | 1 |
The CPU resource reservation is determined by multiplying the number of vCPUs by the clock speed. For example, a DNS/DHCP Server 60 would require 4x 3.0 GHz = 12 GHz = 12,000 MHz.
