BlueCat provides predefined BCN Workflows and actions for BlueCat vRO plug-in v8.1.0. You can use the BCN Workflows to perform the common tasks such as cloning and deleting VMs.
Once installed, you can configure BlueCat vRO plug-in to connect to Address Manager and use the predefined BCN Workflows, or build your own workflows in VMware to perform other provisioning tasks.
BlueCat provides several VMware native workflows that simplify the IPAM provision of your virtual machines. These workflows can be used by the VM Administrator to simplify IP and DNS naming for automated VM creation and deletion while keeping all IPAM information centralized and up-to-date in BlueCat appliances.
The available BCN Workflows are as follows:
Workflows | Description |
---|---|
BCN Clone Windows with single NIC | Clones a Windows vRealize Virtual Machine that has only one network interface card (NIC), and associates the cloned VM’s NIC with a static IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and MAC address in Address Manager. |
BCN Clone Linux with single NIC | Clones a Linux vRealize Virtual Machine that has only one network interface card, and associates the cloned VM’s NIC with a static IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and MAC address in Address Manager. |
BCN Shut down and delete VM | Shuts down and deletes a vRealize Virtual Machine, and un-registers its associated IPAM resources such as IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and MAC address in Address Manager. |
Assign Next Free IP and set hostname | Returns the next available IP address from a given network, and assigns the FQDN to the returned IP address. |
Note: If you get an error message on an Address Manager API call when running a
workflow, check the /var/log/server.log file in Address
Manager.
