Adding an appliance to Micetro

Before adding an MDDS appliance to Micetro, make sure that the appliance is configured in Micetro-mode and that its interfaces are appropriately configured.

Note: To add an appliance to Micetro, you must have the "administrator" role.

To add an appliance:

  1. On the Service management tab of the Admin page, select Add Service.
  2. In the Add service wizard, select Appliance.
  3. In the Properties step, enter the hostname for the appliance in the Appliance name field, which will also be used for the DNS and DHCP services hosted on the appliance.
Note: If the appliance uses a separate management interface, enter a hostname that resolves to the service interface (eth0) in the Appliance name field.

  4. If the appliance uses a separate management interface, enter the IP address of the management interface (eth2) in the Management interface address field. If the appliance only has a single interface configured, you can leave this field empty.
  5. Enable or disable appliance services in the Enabled services step. By default, DNS and DHCP services are activated. If you require remote access to your appliance for specific purposes, you can enable the SSH (Secure Shell) client. You can change the enabled or disabled appliance services at any time. Refer to Setting appliance services.
  6. Select Add.

The appliance is added to the Appliances data grid and its associated services are listed under DNS services and DHCP services.

Removing appliances

When you remove an appliance from Micetro, the DNS and DHCP services hosted on the appliance are not removed or shut down.

Note: This command is only available for the "administrator" role.

  2. Use the Action menu to select Remove appliance.
