xDNS profiles do not include any zones initially. They need to be added manually. Refer to the following sections for instructions on how to add and/or remove zones from xDNS profiles.
To add a DNS zone to an xDNS profile, you must have create zone permissions on all DNS services included in the xDNS profile
Adding zones to xDNS profiles
DNS zones can be added to xDNS profiles from the DNS page. xDNS only supports primary and private zones, so these are the only zone types that can be added to an xDNS profile.
To add zones to an xDNS profile:
- On the DNS page, select either Primary zones or Private zones in the left sidebar, if not already selected.
- Use either the Action or Row ... menu to select Add to xDNS profile.
- In the dialog, use the dropdown to select the xDNS Profile you want to
add the zone(s) to.
When a profile is selected on the Profile menu, Micetro runs preflight checks and displays any warnings or potential errors that are detected.
- Select Add.
Adding a zone to xDNS will, if necessary, create zone instances on other DNS services included in the selected profile and add delegation records. Afterward, other record data from the source zone will be replicated to the newly created zone instances.
The DNS data grid will only display one instance, with the Authority column showing the name of the profile to which the zone has been added.
Removing zones from xDNS profiles
Removing a zone from an xDNS profile stops all replication between zone instances on each DNS service. Delegation remains unchanged, and no zone instances are deleted.
To remove a zone from an xDNS profile:- In the data grid on the DNS page, select the zone you want to remove from a profile.
- Use either the Action or Row ... menu to select Remove from xDNS profile.
- In the dialog, confirm you want to stop syncing the zone with xDNS by selecting Remove.
