Micetro enables you to define and manage DHCPv4 and DHCPv6 options, as well as custom options, on your Microsoft DHCP servers. Options might include time offset, maximum/default lease duration, routers, as well as Microsoft-specific options like Microsoft Disable Netbios Option.

To manage DHCPv4 or DHCPv6 options on your MS DHCP server:

  1. On the Admin page, select the Service management tab.
  2. Under DHCP services in the left sidebar, select the applicable Microsoft DHCP server.
  3. On the Action or Row ... menu, select either Manage DHCPv4 options or Manage DHCPv6 options.
  4. The dialog displays all options defined on the DHCP server. Use the dropdown to select the option you want to define.

To delete an option, hover over it, and then select the trash can icon that appears to the right of the input field.

  5. Select Save to save the updated options.

Adding custom DHCP options

You can add custom DHCP options to your MS DHCP server to tailor it to your needs. Once you define a custom option, you can set its value in the Manage DHCPv4 options or Manage DHCPv6 options tasks, respectively. Refer to the section above for instructions on managing standard DHCP options.

To add a custom DHCP option:

  1. Locate the MS DHCP server in the Service management data grid.
  2. Use either the Action or Row ... menu to select either Manage custom DHCPv4 options or Manage custom DHCPv6 options.
  3. In the dialog, select + Add custom option.
  4. Enter the desired ID number for the option. An error will be displayed if that ID is not available or invalid.
Note: All options from 1–120 are predefined.
  5. Enter a name for the option.
  6. Select a type in the dropdown, e.g., string, hexadecimal, IP address, number (8-bit, 16-bit, or 32-bit).
  7. If the Type is IP address, select the Array checkbox if the option is an array.
  8. Select Add, and then Save.

You can now manage the custom option's value from the Manage DHCP options dialog.

Viewing custom DHCP options

At any time, you can check which custom DHCP options are defined on an MS DHCP server, so you can manage them accordingly.

To view the defined custom DHCP options:

  1. Locate the MS DHCP server in the Service management data grid.
  2. Use either the Action or Row ... menu to select either Manage custom DHCPv4 options or Manage custom DHCPv6 options.

    • Microsoft Windows 98 Options

From this dialog, you can add new custom options and remove custom options. If you need to change the set value of a custom option, refer to the instructions on managing DHCP options.
