Users with IPAM administration privileges can configure access inheritance for containers, scopes, and ranges on the IPAM page. When you edit access to a parent object, the changes are applied to all child ranges.
Access for objects that are set to inherit access from their parents cannot be edited.
Existing access settings are not modified by disabling inheritance, but are overwritten when enabling inheritance.
You can manage access inheritance on individual objects by either enabling access inheritance on a parent object OR on a child.
Enabling access inheritance on the parent object
If access inheritance has been disabled, you can enable it on the parent object. This enables access inheritance on all existing and new child ranges. Any existing access configuration on the child ranges will be overridden.
- On the IPAM page, select the parent object in the data grid.
- Use the Action or Row ... menu to select Set access inheritance.
- In the dialog, select Yes to enable access
inheritance.
- Enter an optional comment and then select Save.
Enabling access inheritance on the child range
You can also enable access inheritance on an individual child range. The access inheritance of other child ranges of the same parent will not change.
- On the IPAM page, select the child range.
- Use the Action or Row ... menu to select Manage access.
- In the dialog, check the Inherit access from parent network
checkbox.
- Select Save.
