Depending on user permissions and available license keys, DNS and DHCP services and functions may be disabled or hidden in the Web Application.

We recommend that DNS and DHCP administrators be assigned the built-in DNS Administrator and/or IPAM Administrator roles. If you want a user to manage appliances, we recommend assigning that user to the built-in Administrator role.

If you don't use Micetro's built-in roles, you can assign users to roles with the following permissions to manage the respective services:

  • To manage DNS services: Administer DNS servers
  • To manage DHCP services: Administer DHCP servers
  • To manage cloud services: Access to manage clouds
  • To manage appliance services: Administer appliances
Note: Additional permissions may be necessary for comprehensive service management.

For more information about Micetro's granular role-based access controls, refer to Controlling access.

You can manage access for a specific service, by determining the roles and users who have permission to access and manage the service in Micetro.

To manage access to a specific service:

  1. Locate the service in the data grid.
  2. Use either the Action or Row ... menu to select Manage access.
  3. In the dialog, the roles and users who have access permissions to the service are displayed. To view a specific role's permissions and which actions they're authorized to perform, select the "i" information icon.
  4. To add specific role access for the service, use the dropdown to select a role and then select Add.
  5. To exclude a role which has access to the service, use the Row ... menu to select Exclude.

For more information about managing object access, refer to Object access.
