Query latency is considered a KPI (Key Performance Indicator) for your DNS architecture. By exposing query latency on a per-Site basis, BlueCat Edge allows you to confirm whether queries emanating from each Site are being guided (via Namespace configuration) through the most effective path possible. Latency values can also help point out opportunities for scaling DNS capacity in your network.

You can view the median latency of all DNS queries (in milliseconds) over the last 24 hours of a site in the Site details page under the Median Query Latency Last 24H field. The median latency is calculated based on the average of the last 20,000 queries processed by the site. The latency graph displays the site's latency distribution (in milliseconds) for each latency percentile (1, 5, 25, 50, 75, 95, 99) in 10 minute intervals over the last 24 hours.
