Global Settings preferences configure general BlueCat Server Update Services (BSUS) behavior. To access the global settings, within the BSUS workflow UI, click the Administration tab.

Administration tab settings are organized into four general groups:

General

General BSUS settings.

  • Address Manager API: Specifies a timeout for calls to the BlueCat Address Manager (BAM) API, and lets you test BSUS's connection to the BAM database.

  • Data Management: Data Management settings let you configure BlueCat Server Update Services data retention behaviour for event logs.

  • Portal Host and Port: Specify the URL and port that DNS/DHCP servers should use to connect with BlueCat Server Update Services (BSUS) for acquiring staging files and Customization packages.

Service Configuration

Settings that specify how BSUS should configure target servers and apply updates.

  • Template settings: Sets the interval at which BSUS checks with target DNS/DHCP servers to make sure their configurations are synchronized with their assigned Configuration Template.

  • Configuration Templates: Opens the Configuration Templates page, where you can create and manage Configuration Templates. These templates let you specify default server configuration settings for use in the target DNS/DHCP servers.

For more details, see Configuration Templates.

  • Server Customization: For managing Customization packages (customized sets of files that back up and restore server settings that might be lost during an upgrade).

For more details, see Upgrade Customization packages.

  • Syslog Configuration: Settings that enable syslog functionality, which lets you send event and notification logs to an external syslog server.

For more details, see Sending events to a syslog log server.

Authentication

Configures account authentication for BSUS, BSUS users, and target DNS/DHCP servers.

  • SSH Keys: Contains a list of private SSH keys that BSUS can use when signing in to DNS/DHCP servers within a server group. Useful if you don't want to use the root user password.

  • SSH Credentials: Specifies a global account name and password and password when adding DNS/DHCP servers to a batch. Useful if all of your DNS/DHCP Servers use the same username and password.

  • Service Account: Specifies the Address Manager Service Account to use for certain BSUS features (like Configuration Templates). For more details, see Configuring the BSUS Service Account.

Access Right Settings

Lets you configure access rights for BSUS users, including the ability to restrict users to specific Server Batches.

For more details, see Managing BSUS Access Rights.
