You can send BSUS events and notifications to an external syslog server. A syslog server collects syslog messages from all devices in a single location, consolidating logs and events from multiple sources.

When you configure a syslog server, all events that are sent to the Event List are also sent to the syslog server. Currently, only UDP syslog servers are supported.

To configure or change the syslog server for BSUS events:

  1. Open the Syslog Configuration page. (Click the Administration tab, then click Syslog Configuration at the top of the page.)

  2. Click to select the Enable syslog checkbox.

  3. In Syslog server, Enter the IP address (or fully qualified domain name) and port of the syslog server to which you want to send BSUS events.

Tip: To test the syslog server connection, click Test. BSUS will send a test event message to the specified address and port. You can test syslog connections only if the syslog server is enabled.
  4. When you're done, click Update. Any events that would appear in the Event List from now on are also forwarded to the syslog server. (Past events are not forwarded.)

Click Cancel to instead cancel your changes.
