IPv4 templates allow you to create standard settings that can be applied to the following
IPv4 objects:
- IPv4 Networks
- DHCPv4 Reserved Addresses
- DHCPv4 Ranges
- IPv4 Blocks
When you apply a template to a single object or to multiple objects, and change template
settings, the objects based on the template are updated accordingly. Use IPv4 templates
to standardize address assignments and deployment options.
Note: A conflict between an
object and a template occurs when the object and template have the same deployment
option server settings and you perform one of the following actions:
- Add a deployment option to the template and the following conditions are
true:
- The option already exists in the object.
- The values of the option added to the template are different from the values of the option in the object.
- Add a deployment option to the object and the following conditions are
true:
- The option already exists in the object.
- The values of the option added to the object are different from the values of the option in the template.
- After applying a template to an object, you change deployment option settings in the object.
If the deployment option server settings of the object and template are different, a conflict does not occur.
Note: When performing add, update, and get operations for IPv4
templates through Address Manager API:
- If the name properties contains commas (,) or back-slashes (\), it needs to be escaped with backward slash (\).
