As with IPv4, you must create an IPv6 network before you can create IPv6 addresses.

You can create an IPv6 network directly under the IPv6 Unique Local Address Space, the Global Unicast Address Space, or you can create it under a child block. IPv6 network objects can range in size from /64 to /128.

To create an IPv6 network:

  1. Select the IP Space tab. Tabs remember the page you last worked on, so select the tab again to ensure you're on the Configuration information page.
  2. From the configuration drop-down menu, select a configuration.
  3. Click the IPv6 tab. Under IPv6 Blocks, select the block in which you want to add the network.
  4. Click New and select IPv6 Network.
  5. Under Network Information, set the following parameters:
    • Range—type or adjust the network prefix and range.
    • Create a Network Range in Sequence Automatically—select this option to have Address Manager automatically create the first possible network in the block. The network prefix and range are calculated automatically and appear in the Range field.
Note: If you select this option, by default, Address Manager creates /64 network. If you want to create a network with different prefixes, make sure to change the size of the prefix.
    • Name—type a name for the block or network.
    • Location—(Optional) select a location from the drop-down menu on which the IP object that you are adding or editing will be based. The most frequently used location objects are at the top of the list.
      • Inherited Location—displays the location annotation that's inherited from the parent object. If you don't include a location, this default location will be used for the current object and its child objects.
  6. Under Change Control, add comments, if required.
  7. Click Add.
