Add or edit VLAN interfaces to managed DNS/DHCP Servers from the Address Manager user interface. BlueCat recommends this method for
most scenarios, including upgrades and new installations of DNS/DHCP Server
The following is a list of provisions for VLAN interfaces:
- You can add a maximum of 195 interfaces per DNS/DHCP Server
appliance or VM
- You can configure a maximum of 400 total IP addresses per DNS/DHCP Server appliance or VM, including IPv4, IPv6, IPv6
link-local addresses, and loopback addresses.
To add or edit a VLAN interface:

Select the Servers tab. Tabs remember the page you
last worked on, so select the tab again to ensure you're on the
Configuration information page.

Under Servers, click a server name. The
Details tab for the server opens.

Click the server name menu and select Service
Configuration.

From the Service Type drop-down menu, select
Interfaces.

Under the Interface column, choose eth0 then
navigate across the row to the Action column and click
Add or Edit.
If
adding a VLAN interface:
Note: The
Parent Interface,
Interface, and
Type fields are automatically
populated and can't be edited.
If
editing a VLAN interface:
Note: The
VLAN ID,
Interface, and
Type fields are automatically
populated and can't be edited.

The number in the VLAN ID field is automatically
populated sequentially with a number from 1 to 4094 based on the available
VLANs, but you can also enter a VLAN ID manually.

In the Description field, enter a name for the VLAN
interface. You can enter up to 80 alphanumeric characters including spaces,
but excluding special characters.

Select the Active check box to activate the VLAN
interface. Deselect the check box to disable the VLAN interface.

In the
Address/CIDR field, enter an IPv4 or IPv6
address and netmask using CIDR notation. For example,
192.0.2.100/24 or 2001:db8::AC10:FE02/64. This will be
the IP address assigned to the newly created VLAN interface. If no CIDR
netmask is added, /32 will be automatically added for IPv4 addresses;
/128 for IPv6 addresses.

Click Add Address. The IP address appears in the
Addresses list. To delete an address, select an
IP address from the Addresses list and click
Remove.

Click OK. The pop-up window closes and the newly created
VLAN interface appears in the Interfaces table.

Click OK. The pop-up window closes and the newly
created VLAN interface appears in the Interfaces
table.

Under the Interface column, expand or collapse
eth0 to view the configured VLAN interfaces.
You must manually restart DHCP service from the Address Manager user
interface.
