Customize your location structure by adding your own location objects under the
default location group objects.
Note:
- You can't create a location object at the primary
location list level. You can only create a location
object within the city location level.
- You can't edit or delete any primary location
lists.
- Location filtering applies only to the table you are
viewing. For example, if you are viewing the country
locations, you can only search or filter by country
names. Similarly, if you are viewing city locations, you
can only search or filter by city name.
- You can filter locations by name and partial names
(minimum two characters).
To add a custom location object:
-
Select the Groups tab. Tabs remember the page on
which you last worked, so select the tab again to ensure you're on the
Groups page.
-
Click the Locations tab.
-
Select a default primary location list (that is, a city) in which to
create your custom location object.
Note: To create your custom
location, you must navigate down to the city location level. For
example, if you want to add a location object for an office in
Toronto, you must navigate to and create your custom location under Toronto.
You can't add any custom location objects to the default primary
location lists that have been imported from the UN/LOCODE
database.
-
Under Locations, click New.
-
Under Location, set the following options:
- Name— enter the name for the location that you
are adding. For example, Toronto or New York.
- Localized Name— enter the name of the location in
your local language. For example, for Tokyo Office 1 in Japan,
you can enter 東京オフィス1 in Japanese. If your location name contains
diacritic marks, you can enter the name with diacritic marks in this
field as well. For example, Montréal.
- Location Code— enter a location code for the
location that you are adding. You can enter any 1 to 3 alphanumeric
characters. This location code doesn't represent the LOCODE column in
the UN/LOCODE database. The location code that you are adding or editing
will be appended after the first 5-character country and location
code.
- Hierarchical Code— displays the
hierarchical code structure for the location that you are adding
or editing. The first five characters indicate the standard
UN/LOCODE country code and location code. Any codes after the
first five characters represent your own custom location
structure.
- Latitude— enter a geographical coordinate
specifying the north-south position of the location in decimal degrees
format. If the parent location has coordinates specified, the values
will be inherited to the child location that you are adding. You can
also update the value of coordinates to specify the exact geographic
position of your location.
- Longitude— enter a geographical coordinate
specifying the east-west position of the location in decimal degrees
format. If the parent location has coordinates specified, the values
will be inherited to the child location that you are adding. You can
also update the value of coordinates to specify the exact geographic
position of your location.
- Description— Enter the description of the
location that you are adding.
