Override the behavior of DNS forwarding for delegated sub-zones.

When it's set, the Forwarding DNS deployment option affects delegation to sub-zones for which a server isn't authoritative. If a server is authoritative for a zone but not for a delegated sub-zone, the server ignores the sub-zone’s delegation record when the Forwarding DNS deployment option is configured. Instead, the server always forwards queries for the delegated sub-zones, rather than using the delegation record.

To override this behavior, select the Disable Forwarding for Child Zones check box when configuring the Forwarding DNS deployment option. When the Disable Forwarding for Child Zones check box is selected, an empty forwarding statement is defined for the sub zones. This allows delegation for the sub zones to work as expected.

Attention: As described above, if a Forwarding DNS deployment option with Disable Forwarding for Child Zones selected is configured on a zone, the DNS server will utilize delegation records instead of forwarding queries for delegated sub-zones. However, it is important to note that this option does not disable forwarding on the child zones. Child zones will automatically inherit the Forwarding DNS deployment option from the parent zone by default. Users who do not wish for child zones to inherit the Forwarding DNS deployment option from parent zones can disable DNS option inheritance in the configuration settings. For more information, refer to Defining DNS option inheritance settings.
