This task describes how to disable Dedicated Management on a managed DNS/DHCP Server.

If you have added a DNS/DHCP Server to Address Manager with Dedicated Management enabled and no longer wish to separate services and management traffic, you can disable the DNS/DHCP Server on Address Manager, use the DNS/DHCP Server Administration Console to disable Dedicated Management, then replace the DNS/DHCP Server. Disabling Dedicated Management will disable eth2 and return all SSH, SNMP, and Command Server traffic to eth0.

To disable Dedicated Management:

  1. Log in to the Address Manager user interface.
  2. Select the Servers tab, then click on the name of the multi-interface DNS/DHCP Server.
  3. Click the server name and select Disable.
The DNS/DHCP Server is now disabled on Address Manager.
  4. Log in to the DNS/DHCP Server Administration Console as the administrator. For more information on default login credential for Address Manager, refer to BlueCat default login credentials (you must be authenticated to view this topic).
  5. From Main Session mode, type configure system and press ENTER.
  6. Type set state no-proteus-control and press ENTER.
  7. Type exit and press ENTER until you return to Main Session mode.
  8. From Main Session mode, type configure interfaces and press ENTER.
  9. Type set dedicated-management disable and press ENTER. Dedicated management is disabled on eth2. Eth0 is now used for both Management and Services.
    Adonis> configure interfaces
    Adonis:configure:interfaces> set dedicated-management disable
  10. Type exit and press ENTER until you return to Main Session mode.
  11. The management address for the DNS/DHCP Server is now the services interface address (eth0). As Address Manager is configured for the subnet of the previous management interface (eth2), the routes and interfaces must be configured to match again. This can be accomplished by modifying eth0 on either Address Manager or the DNS/DHCP Server so that the routing and interface address subnets match.
  12. Reconfigure your network routing to connect the Address Manager appliance to a switch that's on the same subnet as the Service interface of the DNS/DHCP Server appliance (eth0).
  13. Log in to the Address Manager or DNS/DHCP Server Administration Console as the administrator. For more information on default login credential for Address Manager, refer to BlueCat default login credentials (you must be authenticated to view this topic).
  14. From Main Session mode, run the configure interfaces command and modify the IPv4 or IPv6 address on the eth0 interface to a matching subnet. The eth0 interface for the appliance you are configuring must be on the same subnet as eth0 on the appliance it will connect to.
  15. Return to the Address Manager user interface. From the Servers tab, replace the DNS/DHCP Server using the IP address of the DNS/DHCP Server Service interface (eth0). If the service interface address has been changed on the DNS/DHCP Server, the new services address will also have to be updated on the replace server page when replacing.
