To upgrade a container that is running on a production BlueCat DNS/DHCP Server, you should first test the new image on a BDDS appliance in a lab environment. If the container performs as expected, you can then apply the updated image to the production BDDS.
Before you begin, complete the following:
- Back up
/root/gwdata/
and/var/log/gateway/
, or the custom data and logs directories set during configuration. - Back up the original image, or ensure that it is still available on the cloud or local repository
- Ensure that the new or updated image is available (if pulling from a local or
cloud repository) and has been tagged appropriately to differentiate it from the
old image. As a best practice, BlueCat recommends using proper version tags and
avoiding use of the
latest
tag
