Before creating the pair, ensure the service point has been enabled successfully on
both DNS/DHCP servers. For more information, refer to Viewing the DNS Edge Service Point v3 health and configuration.
Important: If any of the service point configuration details differ
between the two servers, the HA creation will fail.
-
On the server assigned as the Active node, add the service point IPv4 address
as an additional IPv4 address on the Service interface (eth0).
-
Configure both DNS/DHCP Servers with the same DNS Edge URL, site ID, and
service point IPv4 address.
Note: If you do not configure both DNS/DHCP Servers with the same DNS Edge URL,
site ID, and service point IPv4 address, the HA pair creation will
break.
Note: Proxy SettingsIf the proxy settings are configured, the proxy
host, port, and user settings must be identical.
-
Wait for the service point to be enabled successfully on both servers.
-
Create the pair.
Once the xHA pair is successfully created, you can reconfigure the client
devices with the service point IPv4 address as the client device's
nameserver. In this configuration, the service point on the Active node can
process the incoming client traffic, and all operational DNS traffic and any
other non-DNS traffic will continue to be processed by the Active DNS/DHCP
server.
