The root password is used to log in as root.

Login as root in order to change the password.

To set the root user password:

  1. From the Administration Console login prompt, login as root. For more information on default login credential for Address Manager, refer to BlueCat default login credentials (you must be authenticated to view this topic).
    Note: Address Manager and DNS/DHCP Server VM customers need to contact BlueCat Customer Care for help with the VM root password: https://care.bluecatnetworks.com
  2. Type passwd and press ENTER.
  3. Address Manager prompts you for the new UNIX password. Type the <new password> and press ENTER.
  4. Type the <new password> again and press ENTER.
