Primary and secondary tabs

The primary tabs in Address Manager remember the last page you worked on — this feature is designed to improve efficiency when performing multiple tasks. When navigating between tabs, select the tab twice to make sure you're working on the intended page.

Log out and username links

The Log Out link logs you out of Address Manager. The user profile icon opens your user profile, where you can change your password, as described in Changing your password.

Quick and advanced searching

Address Manager provides quick, advanced, and Response Policy item search tools to locate objects. For details, refer to Searching in Address Manager.

Getting help

Click the Help button on any page to display online help for the page you are working on.

Configuration selector

A configuration is a collection of settings representing a specific network implementation.

A configuration includes DNS zones, IP address space, servers, and all of the settings used to control and manage the network. In the Address Manager object structure, the configuration is the parent IPAM object, encompassing all other objects in the network. Settings such as DNS and DHCP options and access rights made at the configuration level are inherited by all objects within the configuration.

You can create multiple configurations to maintain different networks and to perform testing in an isolated environment without interfering with production servers. Use the Configuration selector to switch between configurations.

For details, refer to Configurations.

Breadcrumbs and IP block menu

Breadcrumbs help you keep track of which IP block, network, IP address, or DHCP range you're currently viewing, if a name is available. The option to show breadcrumbs is configured as a Global setting. For details, refer to Displaying breadcrumbs.

The IP block menu lets you choose which IP block to view. IP blocks are the main container in the IP address space. You must have at least one IP block within a configuration to be able to add networks and IP addresses. For details, refer to Working with IPv4 blocks and Working with IPv6 blocks and networks.

Add to Favorites

Favorites are bookmarks that you can use to navigate to commonly-used objects in Address Manager. Every Address Manager object that can be added to your list of favorites has an Add to Favorites link near the top-right corner of the page. Click this link to add the object to your favorites list. For details, refer to Favorites widget.

Data and Settings menus

Click the Data drop-down menu to export the data from most Address Manager tables to a comma-separated value (CSV) file, and then download the CSV file to your local workstation. You can use this feature to copy Address Manager data into another application, such as word processor or e-mail client, or to manipulate data outside of Address Manager. For details, refer to Exporting table data.

Click the Settings menu to customize tables to add or remove information, and to change the order of the columns in the table. For details, refer to Customizing tables.

Table filtering

Table filtering provides a helpful way to sort, search and filter large tables of data to improve how you view and manage data from your network environment. Table filtering is available on following Address Manager pages where data is organized in table format:

  • IPv4 Blocks and Networks
  • IPv4 Addresses
  • DNS Zones
  • DNS resource records
  • External host records
  • Locations

For more information, refer to Table filtering.
